Protectors were not split to enable easy application
Indeed the cable outers need to be removed from the cables in order to slide on the protectors. Saying that, once on they're extremely effective and for only a few pounds do help keep the frame in mint condition.

I haven't used these particular protectors yet, as I'm still waiting for delivery of the frame for my new bike build.
However, I am able to review the items, due to having used them before.
When I say these are the best of their type, I do so with the caveat that they can only be used if you are installing new cables/hoses or are prepared to strip down your already installed cables/hoses.
The reason for this is that there is no split in the rubber, which requires you to thread them on from one end of the cable. This is, however, one of their strong points, due to the fact that they will not fall off mid-ride.
The other nice points about these are that they are a snug fit - meaning that they will stay where you put them - they are unobtrusive looking (with no brightly coloured logos) and they are a lot cheaper than alternative brands.
I will always use these, from now on, as I prefer to build bikes to my own spec, so will always be in a position to thread them over the end of cables - and they, just simply, do the job.
P.S. A squirt of WD40 will help to overcome the tight fit, during installation, but will evaporate away, leaving things nice and snug.
P.P.S Can't wait for the Crawley store to open, so I don't have to brave the Dartford crossing for my fix of all things Decathlon!
Form, function AND price - win, win, win!
That I didn't find these years ago
Just built up a new frame set and wanted the bike to look in top condition for longer. Easy to fit but remember to fit on outer cable during assembly. A small amount of lube helps the protectors slide over the outer cables
Keeps frame in good condition for longer
